my parking brake works, but when I release it, it doesn't come all the way back up....this leads to the parking brake light on the dash being constantly lit up.....it only goes away if i hold the pedal up all the way with my hand...then when I let go it ratches down a couple spots and the light goes back on......any idea which specific part I need to fix this?

The pedal mechanism itself may be just fine.Usually there is a pad on the pedal arm that was a thick rubber. This is notorious for decomposing and turning to goo making a mess and also not able to depress the switch which it was designed to do. You can try and fabricate a home made remedy with cork or something. It's a pain in the ass but this has been an issue with these cars from the beginning. Inherent materials flaw.
