I was just wondering if you spray paint the sfc's before they get installed on the car or if it would be better to wait until after they get welded onto the car? I don't want to paint them before and have the welds not hold because of this.

I painted mine after but I don't see a big problem with before. Plus you'll get all 4 sides painted that way.

If I was to do it again, I'd paint it all before and if necessary scuff the areas for welds with a drill and wire wheel and touch up those spots after it's installed.

I had mine powder coated ( $15.00 cash!!!). The installer scuffed the areas needing welding and then repainted those areas with a good anti-rust paint. Turned out great.

I primered and painted mine before. That way you get a good covering all the way around to prevent rust. The paint can be ground off the areas that need to be welded before they're welded on and then the welded areas can be painted afterwards.

Edit: Had I to do over again, I would have had them powdercoated.

Where can I get mine powdercoated for $15 cash? Preferably within 30 miles of here and preferably $15 Canadian. :p
