Well, it's official. The Mocha 91 will be getting the soon-to-be-released Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 wheels, in 17"x8", 5x108 (obviously), 40mm offset.

This is the one I originally wanted, before I saw the Pro Race 2's:

However, both came only in 17x7. In speaking with Don Kane over at TD, he told me that the Pro Race 1's (which I began asking about last year), were IN STOCK NOW in the US, in white and anthracite, in 17x7, 45mm offset (which should work fine on 95's, etc. - others here have the 17x7.5" at 45mm with no rubbing). Now, I'm also hot for the white Pro Race 1's for the Moonlight Blue 95, but budget prevails and I can only focus on the track car for now (unless someone wants to buy the BBS RZII's & G-Force KDW tires I have on there now... wink ).

Anywho, in talking with Don about what I REALLY wanted (17x9), he mentioned that they were "shortly" going to be releasing the Pro Race 1 in 17x7.5 & 17x8. I asked him to define "shortly", as I wanted them for this fall's track dates. He told me they're going to road testing in the UK within 3 weeks, and that I'd definitely have them for the fall dates (indicates to me Late August / Early September arrival in the US).

I have my verbal order in now with Don. :)

The 17x7's are 17 lb. (that's apparently an adjustment - they used to calculate out to 15.75lb)

I've got a mail into Don about the weights of the new sizes now.

Well, given that you can find sub-13lb 17" wheels out there, it's not necessarily Jack. wink

There are lighter wheels. There are stronger wheels. But honestly, I was thrilled with the combination of durability, looks, & performance of my old TD wheels (they were WAY heavy though, at 24lb).

The old ones lasted very well on the rough New England roads for a few years without a dent - it took getting pushed onto a Jersey Barrier by a Yukon to damage them (don't try this at home). It's this past performance, coupled with the lighter weight that's kept me looking at TD. That, and they fit our cars. thumb

Word from TD:

"The 17x7 weighs 16.17lb in the +45mm offset. No weight yet on the other two sizes, since they have to be built, then tested, but my guess is the 7.5 will weigh in at approx. 17-17.5lb, and the 17x8 approx. 18-18.5lb."

That's pretty good, same weight (or slighly less) than a stock 16x6" slicer.

I'm still on the hunt for a 17-18 lb 16x8" wheel.

Nice TD's Fred, very nice.

The shirt fits and I haven't taken it off since I got it. hehe

There are other rims that weigh much less, cost much more and are not made yet....story later. wink
