Online Vehicle Repair Guides

Despite the there being a number of vehicle repair guides readily available online, there are repeated posts and requests for information on basic maintenance and repair procedures for the Taurus SHO.

One of the most readily accessible online repair guides, for most vehicles sold in the U.S., is posted on AutoZone's website. While not exactly verbatum, virtually all of the text and illustrations for the Ford Taurus are taken directly from the Ford/Helms Taurus Vehicle Service Manual.

In addition to providing both step-by-step instructions with illustrations, the online guides include information on tools used by the Dealership to service the Taurus/Taurus SHO.


First, you will need to enter your vehicle, year, and engine type. There is no requirement to register, and you can keep vehicle information three separate vehicles without registering. If you enter a fourth vehicle, the system will bump the first vehicle on your list. Once you've entered the information, proceed as in the example 95 MTX below:

search the left column and click on the link:

This will expand a drop-down menu, and you want to click on the first link in the left column, titled:

Actually, it's the Chilton's repair manual for the 1989 - 1995 Taurus/Sable/SHO that they got online there. I bought the Chilton's about a year ago, it's the same exact thing - very useful though, nevertheless. Especially since they got the repair information linked to the part selected. Not all parts have repair info, though.

Another thought is Alldatadiy.com. I use them a lot, and it's $25 for the first year and $15 per year after that. Sometimes they send a five year renewal for $25 and that means it's only $5 a year. They have pictures, repair info and every TSB available in full text/
