Okie dokie, here we go. We got the belt, and clutch face off of the A/C condensor, and now we're trying to get off the pulley itself, but can not figure out how too without removing the whole system. I've done a search and found that the pulley is being held on by a snap ring, but with the thing in tyhe car I can't see the ring for the life of me. i dont plan on ever using the pulley again so can i just pry the **** out of it to get it off, or will the snap ring be too strong for me? please i need help soon!!!!!!!! headbang

save yourself some trouble and remove the compressor from the car. This allows you to remove the hoses as well and it makes disassembly much easier.

the snap ring is pretty stout. the aluminum casing would give up before the ring does, but why ruin a compressor when theyre expensive as it is ?

according to very recent experience, youll have to remove the alternator and battery. detach the compressor from its location on the block. this will allow you to face the pulley up and you can see the snap ring. use snap ring pliers or a screwdriver to remove the snap ring. that will remove the pulley, but youll still have the clutch coil attached to the compressor. removing the coil snap ring requires the compressor to be allowed to angle up even more. when i changed mine, i removed the radiator fan to allow space for the manifold/muffler.

you can do it with the compressor on the car, but you need a special pair of lock ring pliers....

The compressor had to come of the car when my pully went bad..

Do NOT try to pry the pully off without removing the snap ring....you will destroy the compressor...
