My car goes under the knife next week for a water pump replacement. It's been sitting for almost a year now. When I put it away I put non-oxy gas with Sta-Bil in it and filled the tank full. Is it possible to pull fuel from the line going to the HPFP? This will pull gas past the LPFP without turning it on. I don't care how long it takes. I'll probably start it with a small electric fuel pump and just let it siphon out once I get it flowing. Will I hurt anything pulling gas past from the LPFP while it's off?

I don’t see a problem with it... I have replaced the HPFP several times in my SHO plus the fuel lines going back to the firewall...

Just make sure to prime the system later when you fill it back up as this helps start the car. If you don’t prime it, it will just take a couple times starting the car to get it running.

Another priming discussion......haha.

While you are getting your water pump replaced, check the tensioners and guides. See what kind of wear you looking at.

It won't hurt it. The LPFP is just a standard fuel pump from a PFI engine. The pump could be a major restriction though.

Why not turn on the LPFP and let it pump the tank dry? I haven't done it on the 3.5 ecoboost, but I commonly did it on PFI engines to drain the tank. Works like a charm.

If you are tuned, you can have your tuner provide a tank dump tune which will turn the pump on without starting the car then just run the hose into a bucket.
