Its done this 3 times now...
Runs fine like a champ, I'll go to start it up the next day or something, and everything looks dim. It cranks slowly once, but if I hold the key, it will slowly crank, and then speed up and run. Now when it runs, my gas gauge goes to empty, and the light comes on, but it idles funny. If I shut it off, then turn it on again, everything is lit up like it should, and it fires like normal. But my radio is at 12:00 and the radio is back at 600 am like I unpluged my battery.
Could this be a temporary short in the battery or something? Is something loose? I just got the starter rebuilt. All my battery cables, and the cable from the starter to the fuse block are new. I have added a few grounds, and am kind of stumped why it does this. My positive terminal on my battery is dark from where its rubbing on the top side of the hood blanket, and I wonder if maybe its banging against the hood, and possibly broken that plate below the terminal maybe? Maybe once it starts and gets good voltage, that little gap welds itself back into place good enough for the next start?
I broke a plate in the battery on my truck once, and took a while to diagnose it. Had to hook it up to a meter and bang on the trucks frame with a 3 lb hammer, but I seen the drop there, and knew something was up. Then tried it with jarring the battery around and I seen the drop there too. If it was "apart" when I parked it, it would be dead for sure the next morning. This just sucks tho, because everytime it does this, once it starts, I have to reset the idle again..
This will get annoying for sure.
Anyone got any ideas where to look besides maybe those new cables / starter being loose? I'm about to go outside and check.. just got back from the hospital.. gotta make this SHO baby-ready...
