1995, 171K, and yes it uses oil? lol...
basically just looking for something that will offer a bit more protection during the hot months.
I prefer whats on sale XD. anyways i ran 5w30 castrol gtx for winter. and this summer i am running 10w30 quaker state($7 for 5 qtsI believe that if you use a synthetic 10-30, no matter the temp., you'll be fine. Personally I use Castrol, some prefer Mobil 1. Mobil 1 is easier to find in larger than quart containers.
)I would not want to run 20W50 in one of these engines, although I believe I have read of others who do. 0W40 synthetic is what I would recommend for maximum protection, if you believe you need something thicker than 30wt. I have been using Mobil 1 for 20+ years, but other synthetics are good, too.
Use what the Owner's Manual calls for, it's that simple. Use a high mileage oil if you are experiencing oil consumption.
what is the advantage of high mileage oil?
I run 10-40 as it has a higher burn off temp then 10-30. Might try that.
