went to ford today to get a replacement oil level sesor (lower rear oil pan). the part they gave me was. f2az 6c624 a / is this the right part? i was told it was only a few dollars, they charged me 26.97.

all of the cars should have an oil level sensor/sender. it's for the dummy light on the dash. it's very near the drain plug and a common cause for leaks.

You got the sensor itself.

The gasket is what normally leaks and is under 3 bucks. Might as well replace them both.

E9DZ-6C626-A is the gasket.

thanks, i got the gasket too. the weird thing was, when i went to replace it, there was NO old gasket and the sensor was very loose, now the only question is.... how the **** do you get the electrical connector out of the back of the old one?

If you can't tell, I used the search function before resorting to bringing to life this topic from mid 2002!!

I've diagnosed a leaking oil level sensor/gasket and am hoping to get it replaced upon the next schedule oil change. I'm looking to see if there are any specific steps required to replace the sensor. I'd rather know what I'm getting into before attempting this repair!

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Well, I changed mine when I had my pan off for rod bearings but the basic concept is still the same. The Oil level sensor has squared off sides like a bolt, so get an open end or an adjustable wrench and just unscrew it. The wire on the end of it just pulls out and pushes in (at least mine did). That is just about all their is to it.
