Is there some way to disassemble the sender to remove it from the harness? The wire on the sender I have now it currently melted to the pan, so it needs to be replaced. I have a good used one, but the wire is starting to fray and its soaked in oil.

Is there a way to disassemble it? I see that the large nut has a split in it near the top like it might seperate and unsrew. I tried unscrewing it, but no luck so far. The black plastic boot doesn't appear to unscrew either.

Any input?? Thanks...

I've replaced this before, there is a way to remove just the wire. You see the split in the large nut? That's where the wire clips onto, there's a square clip in there, looks kinda like this []. Remove the clip and the wire pulls straight out. You can then unbolt the sender if needed (drain the oil first though).

BTW, how are you guys in Jersey? Been a while...
