My car (93 MTX) is leaking about a quart of oil a day! :omg: What could cause this thing to leak so much oil!? It just started leaking about a week ago.
I mean it leave an oil trail in the parking lot with oil drops every 3-5 feet... I wanna go get it fixed ASAP but I need to know what to look for to know what is leaking so that I can tell them to replace the right things! Thanks for any help!!!

Everett uh?....I remember it well...lived right by Paine Field...Anyways, if it's leaking (pouring) that much oil, I think once you, or someone with a lift, a flashlight gets under there it will be very obvious. Did the oil leak coincide with an oil change?? Maybe something as simple as an ill fitting or badly sealed oil filter/drain plug.

Yep, just get under there. To find a leak that badly there are only going to be a few things. Hole in the block  , loose drain plug, loose oil filter, bad oil pressure sender. My money is on the sender.

Almost everything down there is coated in oil so I have no idea where it is originating from. I can see where it drip from (the bar going from the transmission to the right axel I believe) but that is not where it is leaking from obviously. Thanks for any help!

Get some brake cleaner, and let loose. Get it clean under there. Then start it up and look. There is not much more we can help you with. Gotta see where the leak is from.

So I should start it while it is up on jack stands and see if I can see where the leak is coming from? Thanks

Again. If it were me, I would get the front end up in the air. Clean everything down as best as I could. Brake cleaner will take oil off of the motor and give you a fresh start ( do not get it in your eyes, it burns much bad  ) Then start it up and look around. It it is leaking as bad as you say, you will do two things. #1 get oil in your hair, and #2 be able to see the leak.

Good luck.

I had a leak for a while and traced it down to the oil pump. Pray it's not that as you need to remove the entire front of the engine to get to it. My mechanic just did the job and tried to fix it without putting on a new gasket (silocone sealer) and he will now have to take it apart again and use a new gasket. The oil pump is hard to see, but if it's not the places the others have mentioned look closely behind the belt on the right side and see if it's coming from there. Good luck!! Oil leaks stink!!!!!
