About time to get some new tires before winter hits and there's snow everywhere. Could just go and buy the OEM tires but around 1k$ for the set I figure I might as well look at some other options first. I'm not exactly looking for a 'deal' but if anyone has any recommendations on other tires I'm open to suggestions. Continentals don't seem too bad.

Well, I have the General G-Max RS because...well, if it snows enough for me to be concerned, the kids won't have school and I steal my Explorer back from my son for a day.

But, another vote for Conti DWS if I actually wanted to be concerned with snow.

I use BF Goodrich G-force comp 2a/s and really like them. For some reason, I find the 255 width cheaper than 245. Discount Tire Direct has a black friday sale worth checking out.

Looks like you're from the Detroit area, as I am. I would seriously consider separate summer and winter tires. I started using winter tires 15 years ago, and I wouldn't consider doing anything but.

All season tires are "no season" tires. And the Contis, while better than others, still aren't ideal.

Depends on what you value. If you want great handling and braking all year, separate summers and winters are the only way to go.

If summer handling isn't a high priority, but getting around in winter conditions is, the Nokian WR G4 is the only real a/s tire, with a Mud and Snow rating, that is great. Been a favorite of SHO folks for many years.

General max RS has been awesome but are sticky long wearing Summer tires. I have a great all season tire suggestion but it was spectacular in 3 season just ok in snow but still decent. I’ll post soons I remember what they were....Cooper Zeon. Great DD driver tire, exceptional rain traction, decent in snow, great in summer...

I have a couple thousand miles on a new set of General Gmax AS-05s, those are the all season version of the Gmax. I haven't driven them in much ice or snow yet, but they have performed very well in every aspect so far... my only complaint is that they are loud, like mud tire loud.

Cooper Zeon rs3...one of the best longest lasting tires I have used, exceptional rain traction and dry quick starts, inexpensive, try Simple tire all their prices include free shipping vs Walmart online......
I have the Zeon RS3-S on the rear of my Scat Pack now. They've been good. Handled a couple of track days very well. Traction at the dragstrip is OK. I'm 50-50 if I want to get them again (I'm getting new summer tires next spring).

I was extremely pleased with the Pirelli Cinturato P7. I had a couple sets on both my '11 SHO and my '15 MKS AWD. Performed well, quiet and a good ride. Here in West Michigan we can get a lot of lake effect snow. Those tires never let me down.

Whatever you do, do not go with the OEM Michelin tires. Wonderful spring, summer and fall, but downright scary come winter.

Safe travels!

I have those on the SHO and the SVO. While they are good performers year round, they are too loud on the highway for the SHO. I'll get something else when the time comes. I don't care about the noise on the Mustang. It's loud as **** all the time.

This is my first winter with general Gmax as05 all season tires on the 20 inch flower wheels. I drive about 2000 miles a month, I have driven on roads with 9 inches of unplowed snow, compact snow, slush. Ice and everything in between and I've felt confident staying on the road the whole way for winter driving

I also run these in 255-45-20 and rather enjoy them as well. No issues spring, summer, fall or winter. This being the second winter.

Those Gmax’s have really made a name for theirselfs. The Cooper Zeon line is the same way, great inexpensive tires, I did not think they would last so long either!
