I have static and popping in my Gen1 premium sound system and I don't know how to diagnose if it's the head unit or the amplifier. Been out of the car stereo loop for quite a while and it's become a lot more complicated! Thanks, sorry for such a basic question...

We need a bit more info. Does it do it all the time or only when moving? Does it do it only with the radio on or with tapes and/or CDs? Does it do it out of all speakers or just a few (or one)?

It does it on all channels when the radio is on, not when using the tape. It happens whether moving or not. The right channels are noticeably weaker than the left. What is causing that and is it related? Could a bad connection/corrosion to the antenna cause the static/popping? A bad antenna? Thanks for the reply!
