I was driving the sho to close on our new house today. After dropping our youngest off at the sitters, i had pretty much no clutch. Could not get 1st or reverse while stopped, but would go in 1st if rolling. While sitting at a stop light, i had to hold the brakes otherwise the car would pull through the intersection.

I didnt have the time to run back to the house so i drove it anyways. On the way back home it was the same issues, wouldnt go into gear, super notchy shifting, engaging while still on the floor. Now, i get back into town to the first stop light, and its back to normal. Engaging about half peddle as it has since new, can get every gear like butter, shifting while stopped is normal.

What gives??

When this happened to me it was a combination of pressure plate fingers almost entirely worn through and a TOB that rotated off of the release fork. Sometimes the fork caught enough to disengage the clutch, sometimes it didn't.

Drove from Phoenix to Sierra Vista (about 3 1/2 hours total) not sure when I would be able to disengage my clutch.

I'd pull the trans and see what's up.

when my brother pulled his clutch, the fingers were almost worn through as well.
sounds like rebuild time to me.

sounds like the clutch disk may hang up on the input splined shaft - if it slides then it releases normally, if it hangs up then it doesn't want to release.

Did you change the quill sleeve that the throw out bearing rides on?
If so, did you use green loctite to hold it in place?
Im thinking that the quill sleeve might be moving on the input shaft, causing your shifting problems.

No quill sleeve used.

So, you are running the first edition throw out bearing that rides on the aluminum case without the steel quill sleeve?
If so, I would bet that's your problem.
