i notice that my car runs better with higher octanes so lately i have been putting in higher octane gas. perhaps it is a placebo effect and in my mind, but i like it.

My SHO will ping under a slight load running 89, and I can't afford burnt valves, so I just run 92 or 93, whatever's available. It never pings on high octane, and to me it's worth the extra $1.50 if I can avoid burnt valves.

Speaking of fuel..... does the Brand or type (station) really matter and do the ones that claim to clean really do so?? You all seemed knowledgeable on this topic and I have always wondered if the name brands were different than the corner Bob station. I remember as a younger driver, I always went to Shell becuase my Dad said so, the gas is better, or cleaner he said. Just thought I would ask
