I had the wonderful opportunity to replace my rear cam seal, oh what fun, NOT. Had to pull the intake and rear valve cover and cam cap to get the seal out, it was beyond jammed in there, tried drilling and pulling with scews and picks, no luck, so did the removal. Anyways, after putting the manifold back on, which Ive done several manifolds now, I have an occasional misfire at idle only. Rpms are normal range . I've checked everything 3 times and don't know what it is, just frustrated. There are no codes btw.

Spray Some carb clean around intake to see for a vac. leak. If it was a backwards plug, it would be constant not Occasional

I bet that is the key to your problem.

Did you paint over some of the grounding locations for the DIS/crossover?

the mounting area for the DIS was covered and never painted. I did paint the rear support brackets. Maybe some paint got in the mounting hole in the back where the main ground cable connects to the intake, hmm, good call, have to check that. There is only one ground on my intake, and thats in the rear pass side.

Yes, clean the paint off of both of the support brackets, and out of the threads if you can. That will help.

Ill do the cleaning out of the paint. Was told of an interesting way to check for vacuum leaks without spraying anything by my Tech friend. Use a propane bottle with a hose and move it around, vacuum leak will catch it and rpms will raise if/when you find the leak.
To be more accurate with description, the misfire is only a single little misfire like every two or three mins of idle and its only a little fart of a misfire on one cyl only. it seems to idle normal at the 800rpms with only that little misfire. May seem nothing to some, but it purred awesome with no misfire before I had to do all that work.

there might also be a small pin hole in one of the wire sleeves that causes it to arc off the cylinder head, mine did that to me and it would be random at first and got worse after time

Almost 100% sure what the problem is. After checking everything over again, I could hear a slight vacuum leak, but couldn't track it down. And I also heard the actuator door inside clicking(Heat etc is off),trying to close, which it has never done before. I tightened down the manifold bolts to 15ft/lbs instead of 12 where I had it, and whala, I hear a high pitched vaccum leak. Time for new intake gaskets, guess reusing them 3 times is too many lol.

Check the plastic lines that run along the firewall. There is a plastic connector there that can crack/break easily.

my car used to turn the heat on and off with the climate control off i cleaned the grounds and it fixed it, try going over your grounds with a wire wheel and remove the paint from the surface

I removed any paint from any ground surfaces and also cleaned up grounds to the car etc. Will know tomorrow once I get the intake with the new gaskets back on.

It's all back together with new intake gaskets. Running great now.
