well my sho started to run like crap.. maybe related to washing under the hood..

so the engine light flashes and the box next to the battery clicks like a relay. if i unhooked the eec fuse under the hood this stops. but dont fix my problem.

i did change that box with another that i have. same things..

its like the power is rapidly going on and off to the pcm and the engine flows the flashes of engine light. while the light is flickering and that box is clicking i cant get codes to read. but once it stops for a moment i can read codes. which there are none. if i run the car the same thing starts to happen again?
any input would help..

SOunds like a short somewhere. Check your battery cable connections. My positive was loose a week ago and had similar problems.

I say get a pair of fans and put your car in the garage and put the air on it and try and dry it out... and then never wash under the hood again...

I did a little cleaning under my hood and messed up some abs component (after my accident) and now whenever I drive in the rain my abs light flickers on slowly then stays on till the next day when it dries... no clue what is wrong...

Electronics and water dont mix... and its no fun to learn the hard way...

You said that the box next to the battery is clicking? Take the cover off and start pulling relays until the clicking stops. Report back with which relay is clicking.

mines a 97 so it has that sealed ccrm but the engine light flashes when the box is clicking so it leads me to think it the pcm relay(in the ccrm) or w/e powers it.. i have changed the ccrm out with an extra i have to no change.

like i did say if i pull the eec fuse in the under hood box it stops but the car wont run like that. so i assume there is something wrong with the wiring from the fuse to the ccrm box but cant find my service manual cd to start pining wires.

well yesterday i was able to pin a few wires.

the wiring form the fuse to the ccrm is fine. power dont cut in and out.

so next i need to figure out what wire from the ccrm powers the pcm and watch that with a meter and see if power is consistent.

anyone else have any suggestions..

im thinking of gettin a good engine harness to start with because mine is a little beat up.

do all harness's interchange from 96-99 shos? engine wise.

Take the PCM and CCRM connectors off and spray WD 40 on both sides of the conection.

The harnesses are not interchangeable between years.

i will try that when i get a chance.

so since i have a 97 it has to be for a 97.

bummer there is a 99 in the salvage yard.

also think i forgot to say i just did the alternator on this car..

dropped the sub frame.. wonder if i took it to far and hurt some wires?

started to happen shortly after.

That could certainly be true. The unit might have decided to crap on itself. Maybe voltage regulator. Replacement alts are iffy to say the least.

Same thing happened to me after I washed my engine bay a few years ago. After I took it on a nice long 80 mile ride it seemed to fix itself.

I probably never wash it like that again.
