Ok so I just got my car from the shop and I had a new Clutch Masters stage 1 , Fidanza flywheel, shonut ceramic throw out bearing, new pp bolts w/loctite, new clutch fork, teflon bushings, clutch cable, new fluid, new main seal and gasket, selector seal, new rod bearings, oil pan seals and pretty much everything else that you guys recommended me to change. So now that the car is all back together, initially the car was running good but after 1 hour of driving and after the engine got warm, it became harder and harder to get into gear and now it won't go into any gear???? It will go through the gears when the car is off but when you start it up it just won't go into gear. The 1 hour of driving felt good, I thought everything was fine but then the shifting became very dificult and now I can't even drive her and I don't even have a clue what is going on. Any help would be appreciated and I will provide as much info as possible thanks a lot. It's a 92 MTX

Did you adjust the clutch quadrant? Pull up all the way on the clutch pedal, see if that helps.

Is the clutch qaudrant the mechanism that clicks behind the clutch pedal because I think they messed with that already? I am sorry I am not too familiar with this part that you speak of. The car is still at the mechanic's garage and they said that they will try to figure it out on Monday, so whatever information I get from ya'lls will be useful on Monday and I just wanted to have as much information as possible to help them figure this out.

Hi is it possible that the clutch quadrant is broke? If so where can I get a new one at? Do I just pull back on it to reset the clutch cable or what? The mechanic said that he will ask a transmission specialist and I told him there can't be anything wrong with the tranny if I just drove it for an hour with no problems. I don't want to pay for something I don't need. Any help would definitely be appreciated thanks again.

When I step on the clutch it is pretty firm maybe .25 inch of free play. I just ordered a new clutch quadrant from the FORD dealership and I will install it when I get it. But if this doesn't solve my problem what other things should I look at? Or would it be time for me to get personal with BIZZY and send my tranny to her? I really doubt it is the tranny becuase I drove the car again today and the same thing happened, everything drove fine into all 5 gears but after the engine reached normal operating temperature the shifting would get very difficult. My mechanic asked if the clutch quadrant would be affected by heat? He doesn't think so and is questioning the pressure plate and throw out bearing but I told him it's a valeo plate with stronger straps and that the TOB is a ceramic unit with stronger internals. I have no clue what to think I have spent over $1200 dollars in new parts for this clutch job and the labor charges were outrageous, now I am starting to feel I have wasted my money. Thanks for all of ya'lls help.

It's a 92...is it cable shift or rod shift? (thought some 92's came with cable setups)

There should be no free play. Try and found out where the free play is occurring. If it's at the transmission clutch lever, your quadrant isn't taking the slack out of the cable.

It's a 92 MTX with a rodshifter, I'm pretty sure all 92 and above MTX SHO's came equipt with a rodshifter anybody correct me if I am wrong. I've never even thought about a misaligned mainshaft but wouldn't this cause the car not to move at all or make a lot of noise? The fluid was changed out, I used Royal Purple Max ATF 3 quarts. And sorry about the free play response, I was confused because I was thinking about me pulling up on the clutch pedal which was about .25 of an inch, there is no free play in the depressing of the clutch. The new clutch quadrant should be here in 4 days so I guess I have to be patient. Thanks for all of the suggestions and I will update on the situation whenever I get the new quadrant in.

Shit **** dammit

Ok so I got the quadrant in and the car feel a whole lot better but after about 13 miles of very easy driving the car did the same thing she wouldn't go into gear. And I was planning to drive to a near by friends house because I am leaving for vacation soon and I have to move it from the shop. But now I started her up and she won't go into gear even when the engine is completely cooled. WTF is going on so I put it into reverse while the car was off and then I started the car and then she started rolling reverse while my foot was on the clutch and now the SHO is stuck in reverse and I need help fast. I am speculating that it might be the Ceramic TOB that I purchased from SHOnutperfromance but I won't have a clue until the mechanic takes the tranny off again has anyone had any issues with the ceramic TOB??. What do you guys think it might be? I am all of ideas and money, seriously I am broke and now I don't have a car to drive, crappers. Thanks again.

I can't see how a new clutch setup could go bad in such a short time. Won't go in gear means clutch won't release or tranny doesn't engage correctly. Even if the TOB was bad from the start the finger would still slip on the bearing surface. I don't know if it is possible to wear through fingers that fast. How does the clutch feel? How did it shift before the clutch change? Positive it was refilled with ATF?

Well for the 30 minutes that I drove it, the clutch felt great, the CM1 and 9lb fidanza is a good combo. I am positve the fluid was changed out and I used 3 quarts of Royal Purple Max ATF. Right now the car won't shift out of reverse and if start it up with my foot on the clutch it stills drives in reverse like the clucth won't disengage and this leads me to think my TB is bad just like it was beforeand that was the reason I had to do the clutch job. when the old TOB, PP was removed the TOB was completely shot and the pressure plate fingers were wore through 4 fingers and the clutch fork actutor was bent and my car was stuck in reverse when my clutch went out the first time. Everything was replace with high quality parts and I guess the only thing left is the tranny itself, I guess it is not disengaging? But the car driving great when it was cold struck me as funny because when my clucth when out the first time it also drove better when it was cold. I don't know but I hope Josh warranties his TOB because everything is leading me to believe it is a TOB failure or there is something really wrong wth my tranny. Thanks for anymore help.

I went back and re-read the thread. I got to think it is the cable setup. Can you get someone to watch the clutch bearing release lever for motion? I will try to find the amount of travel you should see. Anybody know off hand?

I was looking at the linkage where the clutch cable is hooked up to while my friend was stepping on the clutchand it had about (i didn't measure) but eyeballing it I would say it had 1.5- 2 inches approximately but I will get the exact measurements if needed but how could this be corrected?. The clutch cable is brand new, clutch fork new and the clutch quadrant is new what other components might be the culprit? I can smell the TOB or someting burning when I start the car up and it is still stuck in reverse. So transmission troubles are out of this equasion right? Because proir to the clutch job shifting was phenominal and after the new clutch was put in it was even better than before but now I don't know what to think. Thanks for helping me but I believe we should find the actual problem on Monday when the tranny is pulled out.

What about the TOB Quill sleeve coming loose? Did they use green loc tite on the quill when they installed it?
