I'm wondering if this is normal. In the extreme cold- (single digits) my car seems to hold gear much longer and not shift, seems to be 4th gear I think, not positive but it will hold gear and not shift, if I lift of throttle it will shift or if I use the paddle shifter. I used to have a diesel truck that did this but it was normal, I'm just wondering if it's normal for the SHO. The car is at the dealer now for this issues and a few other small issues.

Is the engine warmed up at the time? The transmission takes longer to warm up than the engine. Does this happen at part throttle or only WOT? Advancetrac on? Stock trans programming isn't the best either, a tune can help out if everything else checks out OK.

Since you have the PP, try turning off the Advancetrac/RSC and see if this behavior occurs again.

Might need a PCM calibration update, a valve body, ... Any codes set?

My shifting is less crisp during the warm up period for sure.

also a question for you guys, do you guys ever experience a small jump when the car is coming to a stop between 3-2 gears and very small and not really a jump but its more noticeable then any other gears

Slightly...but nothing major. As I watch what gear I'm in through torque, it always downshifts from 3rd to 1st during stopping.

i do, it seems the car is programed to downshift to help stop the car... i believe that is the small jump.
its no longer super cold (thankfully) so i have not had the issue again.

no codes. it only does it when extremely cold, it acts like my old diesel truck... stays in gear to warm everything up with the higher revs, I'm just no sure if these cars are supposed to do that... my service center said it was normal but id rather hear that from owners. however thankfully its starting to warm up here so i have not experienced it in a while.

Pretty sure Shodded pointed out somewhere that our normal operating temps for trans are 175-190? In the frigid temps I never see 170* unless the car has been driven for a couple hours strsight.

With 10 minute idle to warm up, followed by 7-10 minutes driving the trans only hits 100*. So they take quite some time to heat up to a point where I feel safe getting on the car. During the initial drive time after warmup, the shifting is a slower I feel. I NEVER push it during that time so it isn't really bad at all.

My '14 does the same exact thing. It's normal, I had the dealer check it out and there were no issues...it goes away after about 15 minutes of driving right after a cold start.

It's normal - your car will hold a gear longer, keep the rpms high, in an effort to warm up faster. After your temp gauge moves off of COLD, it should settle down.

My car (2011 pp) seems to hold it self back when going from 3rd to 2nd or jumping straight to first......the car will actually sloe itself down with barely hitting the brakes from that speed, I have no tranny codes, are they designed to downshift like that? I feel like it holds on to the gear when I let of the gas just to slow it down then it down shifts

Well, it would actually slow down more (more compression braking) if it were to downshift versus holding the higher gear. But, if you're not in Manual mode, it should unlock the torque converter and effectively shift to neutral when you tap the brake to slow down.

Have you had the TSBs performed for the transmission? I'm aware of 2 TSBs, one that is software/firmware and one that involves making some physical changes to the pressure plate or something in the transmission. I had both done on my 2011 PP while still under warranty and those fixed my transmission shifting concerns. The issues I had were an abrupt downshift when slowing sometimes as well as a delayed and extremely harsh downshift when accelerating from somewhat of a rolling stop.

I bought the car certified used about 20,000 miles ago I am going to call the dealer to see if they were done, it only does it sometimes and if I beat on it it stops doing it lol

The car holds gear much longer when cold just to get the operating temps up. its quite systematic. 1250 then 1000 then 850 then 700 then 600. When its more then -25 C i find the car will push the idle up to 850 about when at a light.

I know this from tons of cold starts ive had to do in as low as -45"C.
