Are there any adverse affects for idling this low? The engine sounds just fine, no spluttering or anything. How do i fix this if need be?

On my emissions sticker, Ford specifies about a 700-800RPM idle, although this seems low to me. I'm at about 800-1000 now. Does the car seem to prone to nealry stalling when you begin to move? I replaced my IAB and solved such a problem.

You should at least try to reset the idle speed. Only the EEC knows the speed at which the engine should idle. Don't go by the tachometer. It is not a calibrated instrument.

If it ain't broke don't f... with it. About 5 years ago I tried to adjust my idle with the set screw [to compensate for stalling, surging]. I'm still trying to get things back where they were. You could try to change your idle with a computer reset, but don't touch the set screw. If you've got no problems with the present idle speed refer to my first sentence.

You can adjust the idle screw all you want,it doesn`t make a difference. The computer will relearn it`s code settings reguardless of where the screw is set,it also specifies on the tb to not adjust it.

My car idles at around 600-700 rmp. I just wondered if this was in the normal range?

Mark
On our old ATX it always idled lower. With the climate control on (AC Engaged) and the car in drive, it was typically around 600-650. In park with the A/C off, it should be closer to 800.
