Over the past couple weeks my 95 MTX had been starting harder and harder and finally yesterday it wouldn't start. I had the battery tested and it tested good under load. Just to be sure, I swapped in the battery from my truck with the same results.
What Im seeing is 12.5v on the battery, then when I turn the key to start the voltage drops to 7-8v. I didn't use my multimeter, but have an autometer gauge in the car and figured it may not be as accurate as my fluke, but good enough to see whats happening with the voltage.
I had the starter/solenoid tested at autozone and it tested good.
So my question is this- does this mean the ignition switch is the culprit or is it possible that the solenoid is indeed bad and just happen to test good.
is there a way to test the ignition switch itself?
