Ok I really need some help on this one. About a week ago my engine started acting up. It would take about 5 seconds of cranking to get it started, then I would have to hit the gas to keep it alive. Once I put it in drive and drove off it was fine, still great power and all. BTW I have a 96 SHO. SO Yesterday I am driving up a hill, I hit the gas, and nothing at all, power steering locks up, engine dies. I throw it in neutral and try to start it...nothing. I pull over, and jump out and open the hood. The smell of fuel is horrible. (Also note, I pulled a P0172 code, Bank 1 running rich) and an emissions code. So I try to get it started nothing. I smell fuel everwhere, I open up my air filter and waalaa, fuel sopping in the air filter. I look under the subframe on the ground, big puddle of fuel. Now I think it is a fuel pressure problem, I am not sure tho. I have had two mechanics concure with each other on the diagnosis. I call my mechanic he says, pull the vacuum line off of the FPR. I do, and gas shoots everywhere from the regulator. He says, "Thats your problem". No I went today to the ford dealership wehre I had my car towed, had a friend turn the ignition to the on position, and Fuel shot out at a high rate from the regulator. I already oredered the damn part, 70 bucks, and I think the regulator is supposed to do that. I knwo the FP itself delivers about 10 times more fuel than what the injectors need, so Is it the regulator or not??
BTW< I just had the cams welded, and I also checked the oil for fuel, and there wasn't any. Any help wopuld be much appreciated.
