great, update, mechanic ran a pressure test, no leaks at all watched him too it, car does turn over though, still does not want too start, mechanic thinks it is the PCM or the camshaft position sensor,

Bob My phone is 401-835-1476 and I live in Lincoln, and the car is in Lincoln, not a far ride from me about 2minutes could use the help as we both are stumped and fustrated as the car ran great before all these new aprts were put on.

Left you a voice mail, and sent a PM with my number. I'm sure it's something simple, we'll get it back running again. :)

theyre these guys down in mass they deal with sho repair as well as oem parts for them, they work on sho's only theyre based out braintree. call em up and see what they can do for you. they might be able to walk your mechanic step by step on fixing it.

There should be write ups on either shophoenixproject.com or on the shotimes.com faq that you can print out and refer to if no one has a manual. Look at CPS replacement, leaking water pump onto the CPS, correct timing, and connections and grounds for the distributorless ignition module on the side of the intake.

crank position sensor

Just a thought. Did your mechanic set the correct gap for the crank position sensor? It should be .030in. If it is set too close it could have been damaged on the first start.

I dont think he set the correct gap, that would explain why it ran and then all of a sudden it died and will not start, it got messed up all 3 vanes got chewed up, so he has too get another one and re-install it the right way. Will keep everybody updated

Thanks for all your help, you have made this forum very helpful and keep the ideas coming

Ask the mechanic if he changed out just the center part of the water pump, or if he replaced the whole housing. If he replaced just the center part, then it will almost certainly leak. There are o-rings one the back of the housing that have to be replaced to prevent leaks. I agree it sounds like something simple.

Thanks, I am having Kirk from NESHO come pick it up, there are in Spencer, Ma and all they do is work on SHO's so if you need work done on your SHO look them up !!!!

So far only a few responses, I truly expected more as the yamaha engine can be a bit of PIA, but they do haul when everything is working right, henceforth my dumbfoundness as the car ran great before this all happened, I know the engine is not torched as it only has 99k on her and when she ran she was tight and no extra sounds(valves)
Whatever happened to her it was a slow death and it just will not spark, like it was coming on.
Thanks
Bob

The problem has little to do with the Yamaha engine; the DIS ignition system is not Yamaha specific, and is used on several Ford engines. It's basic troubleshooting 101. Is there any spark at all? If not, you take an LED 12V test light and begin probing the wires at the DIS. Probe the three coil fire signals, CPS signals, CID signals. They will all will make the LED light flash if working. The CID signal flashes twice as rapidly as the others Make sure the coils and DIS are getting power and ground on the proper pins. Run a temporary ground wire to both of the lower DIS mounting bolts to assure there is no missing ground.

Did you get it running?

Take off the DIS, clean both surfaces extensively, coat with di-electric grease, replace.

got her running know

Thank you too Kirk at NESHO, him and Bob got my baby running, the only problem is paying the bill it was and expensive fix but well worth it, and words of advice. If you have a SHO and you want too keep her running great take it too a SHO mechanic, not some rinky-**** outfit, trust the pros!!!!!

On too the problems, first off the timing had slipped off a couple of degrees on the cams, as the mechanic who installed it missed the mark(see what I mean). 2nd, the wiring harness, that controls the coil, atc, tps, cts, etc, was no good as it had 2 wires that had grounded out, henceforth the no spark problem, this caused the PCM too ground out which made the no spark even worse, so after all this they replaced the wiring harness, the PCM, fixing the timing belt, and low and behold she runs like a charm, I have Kirk holding it for me at NESHO as I am paying the bill in weekily installments and with all the snow we have had, I had no place too park her
