Double check that the connectors behind the intake are connected tight (ECU to main underhood harness).

I take it you are missing pulse at the injectors... check the wiring from the cam sensors, crank sensors, DIS, and coil you will basically need to print out the underhood diagram and highlight every wire you have tested. Its a pain in the ass but sounds like a bad connection/busted or melted wire/or bad sensor.

Double check the grounds from the computer.

How are you testing for the power? Test light or volt meter?

If you lose ground to the EEC, it wont matter if you have 12V+. And you may have an engine/body ground, check your ground for the EEC.

Where did the harness come from? Donor car? Original with the car? It sounds like a broken/crushed wire.

Start using an ohm meter and checking for continuity from one side of the harness (sensor), back to the other side (EEC, DIS, etc.).

I x2 the DIS. Its almost like a distributor and if it is not working/ working incorrectly, it will sstart if fuel is added but will not pulse on start up. Check the voltage on the DIS

we have voltage at dis sometimes, and other times not. if we jump power to it, it sparks. fuel pump doesn't turn on without being jumped. if we start it by spraying the gas into the intake, then it doesn't run at 14 volts, even if we get it to idle at 1000rpm...
injectors aren't opening, nothing is working.

oh, end the ecm (eec, ecu?) has ground. we have also swapped it with another known working one, and no change. its weird, sometimes the system has power for a while if we jump it, then disconnect the wires..
like if we jump the DIS system, it will stay at 12 volts then, even after we remove the jumper wires from the batt to the harness...
so confused.

if this thing was a Z I'd have it running about 20 minutes after it quit..
ready to pay cash for someone to fix this godamndedest thing lol.

I still vote on harness. For a piece of mind, personally I would pull the harness off the engine. Put it on a bench, sit down with a friend and TWO ohm meters. Start testing the harness from end to end for continuity with a manual/schematic. Get the harness eliminated from the problem.

Then go to your components. If your DIS is in question, swap it out with another?

Something in the wiring harness. Took the Ford tech a couple hours to find it. It runs now but its a bit sluggish so back to the basics for now with a tune-up and go from there. Its not throwing any codes so hoping a tune-up will cure current issues.
