i just bought my 89 sho about a week ago and already its down. no spark problem and ive already replaced the dis module and coil pack at the tune of about 250$. im down to the cam and crank sensors and am looking for ohm meter diagnosis procedures before i go and spend more time and money on un necessary parts.

Can I ask what color the 89 you bought is? And how many miles? As for the test procedure try looking at www.shotimes.com I think there might be one there not sure tho. Good luck with your 89.

Does the tach move when you crank the engine?

Run the codes!
They can indicate what the computer thinks is wrong, and is sometimes actually helpful!!

If the tach doesn't move it's almost always the Crank Position sensor or CID (cam sensor).

after spending a full evening in agony, i finally broke down and purchased a crank sensor for the car and spent an hour installing and BLAMO! it ran. :d well for now it runs but i have a few other issues to deal with now like the climate control.

You might have to do it again in another 100 thousand miles...
