Damn.... a similar thing just happened to me. I was driving home when low and behold the stereo cut out and doesn't turn back on. Shortly after having this problem I was on my driveway ripping things apart. I noticed that a lot of stuff isn't working. Things not working are everything hooked up to the number 8 fuse under the dash. If I put another one in, it blows immediately. I've done a lot of stuff to my car recently, but just encountered the problem today. Apparantly there is a short somewhere. I unplugged all of my stereo equipment and probed around for ***** wire in the center console, but came up dry. I checked the trunk, because the trunk light is also hooked up to that fuse. So far I've noticed that I don't have the key in ignition chime, power mirrors, trunk light, glove light, door lights, dome light, or the lights by your feet. Recently I installed water temp and oil pressure gauges on a pillar pod. Unfortunately the lights to the gauges still work, and so does the backlighting for the autolamp. I wired the lights for the gauges into the wires for the light that lights up the autolamp and dimmer panel. The light for that panel still works. The lights in the EATC still work. My cluster lights still work. I'm a bit confused as to what needs to be done. I'm quite ****** that my stereo doesn't work now. I spent all this money on a sub yesterday. I spent a lot of time building a custom enclosure and cutting out my rear deck to mount it. I do still have the tunes of the yamahammer. Help... anybody?

my 13 fuse was blowing and it was just cutting out my dash lights. it did it very often. i cant remember but i think i switched my dimmer switch. u can get it out of any taurus with dimmer, pull the back out because they are all black. i have an aftermarket stereo in there, and it left one of the plugs that pluged into the stock stereo hanging there. i covered the end with electrical tape ( just in case it was grounding out) so, i would say if its fuse 13 start with your dimmer switch(went faulty in my dads as well as mine) and cover all open wires.

I found my short. When I cut out my rear deck and installed a board, the trunk light wires got crimped against some metal and the board, hence my ground. All is good now. Just gotta put everything back together.

I think I had a fuse 13 blowing problem once. I'm pretty sure my friend shorted the circuit with his horseplay and bad insulation covering of twisted wires while fidgeting with my stereo. Everything behind there is nicely secured now. No more popping that fuse. Kinda sucked driving without gauges.
