You can set the idle for whatever rpm you want. I had a lot of work done to mine including underdrive pulleys. I changed the idle to 1000 rpm so everything has enough juice. mpg sucks thats the downside.

might want to check/change you Air idle bypass valve.... check your air filter....

and check the screw... if it hasnt been touched it should have a mark on it were it was set at.... IIRC...

if the AIBV is dirty, then you could try to clean it out... first..... then if that dont work.. then go get another....
thats what this sounds like to me....

EDIT: there is a proper way to set your idle.... it envolves turning on certain accesories in order... allthough i cant remeber off head what it is.... might want to check out Josh's site, shopheonixproject..... or something like that... and Shotimes......

If your ATX is revving up to 2 grand, its probably got a vacuum leak. Even the MTX really shouldn't rev that high.

If it was the IAC then it wouldn't start at all. Definatly a vacum leak. will the car run if you keep your foot on the gas? As I understand the problem when you start the car it jumps to 2k then imediatly dies. Rn time=2 seconds or less.

have you checked for any engine codes? That still may be a stuck IAC unless it will idle up on its own at startup. If it idles at 500 all the time it may be stuck in one position. what do you mean "if aI warm it up"? is that with yourt foot on the gas? Its hard to trouble shoot from a desk so the more info the better. Its better to over write then to under write. Ken
