It was like 60° F here Thursday, and maybe all of 25° F yesterday. So I don't think that's a valid comparision.

So, . . . how fast is " . . . way too fast . . ." ?

Did the thermostat. No dice. Temp still climbs way too fast and NO heat. It wasn't on and off heat it was blazing hot Thursday to no heat at all Saturday.

It is in correct, topped off with coolant and still nothing. There was coolant in the overfill still too.

Where do I go from here?

Wed and Thurs I had to turn it off it was too hot. Thurs night wasnt so warm.

Way too fast is not OH SHIT fast but more like you can just sit there and watch it climb. If I drive it around the block and back it is already half way up the gauge. It will go to the N and above if I let it sit after that. All in 30ish weather.

I keep thinking Heater core in the back of my head but when I talked to James and explained everything it sounded like it could be the water pump to him, or heater core. Either way its alot of time I dont have but we'll see how it goes.

The reason I brought-up "how fast", is because it may be that the engine is running normal temperature, but either the sending unit or the gauge is bad, resulting in the TEMP gauge reading well above normal . . . .

This could be true. My speedo went ******** a few weeks ago. fuel gauge was off Saturday before the meet (ran out of gas pulling in my driveway), the thing is though it drops when there is air flow so it has to be reading something. If that was it then it would be the heater core. If it was the heater core then the lines would be leaking. In that case alot went wrong at once. My luck. Before I dig into the water pump I am going to go over it again to see if I can trace the leak back all the way.

Based on your comments above/below, it's either the water pump seal, one of the water pump o-rings, the lower radiator hose, or a freeze plug. I believe the drain hose for the heater core would be "dripping" as if it were coming from along the firewall.

An easy way to determine exactly where it is dripping from, is to place a large piece of cardboard under the engine compartment, and then look at the pattern of drip-spots.

Btw, you have 90-days on returns to AutoZone - save your receipt.

It is smoking on the pass side of motor also, plus the drips off the mufflers Its either this or the Heater core. Either way I already bought it, if I had to I could take it back but I figure its one less thing to do on my 60k checklist.

You coud tie the 2 heater core lines together, to see if it makes a difference in your diagnosis.
