Hello, I' trying to get my Gen 1 car going again after it has been sitting for about 4 months. The reason it was sitting was a/c compressor lockup. After buying the new compressor, accumulator, and liquid line and getting it all back together, the car won't start. I have refreshed the fuel and put in new plugs (getting good spark), but no fuel pump priming/running noise. Is there a way I can test it in the car before having to replace it? It seemed to work fine before the car sat for 4 months. I have checked and reset the fuel shut-off/inertia switch in the trunk. Is there a relay or fuse that supplies power to the fuel pump? Thanks in advance for your help.

The fuel pump relay is located in the ICRM/CCRM module. This is the black box under your radiator cover. For a gen 1, it will have the letter M on it. I would first check that you have power before and after the inertia switch in the trunk. You can also "ground out" the fuel pump so you don't have to keep turning the key on and off. On the EEC tester plug (located behind the passenger strut tower) you need to use a piece of wire and put it in the lower right slot on the plug. Then ground the other end to the chassis.

I had a similar problem and i narrowed it down to a fuse... There is a small 10amp fuse that is sitting perpendicular to all the main fuses in the fuse box that is under the hood. If i remember correctly, it is marked as "acc. drive" or something like that. Check that fuse. It took me a month of tracking down wiring before i figured this out.

P.S. if anyone knows which fuse i am talking about, could u answer why the **** it is labled as an accessory?

Thanks for the info Area 91. Can you provide clarification on where the fuel pump relay is? I took the radiator cover off and tried cleaning connections on the module mounted on the drivers side with the M on it. The module seemed to be riveted together. Do I need to drill the rivets out to open it up, or does the module just require full replacement? Is there a fusible link somewhere that could be blown? Is there a way to test the ICRM/CCRM module? Interesting that according to the wiring diagram, the a/c compressor is tied in with this module and compressor lock-up is what started my problems.

I checked the inertia module for continuity. With "red button" down, the "NC" ans "C" had continuity. With red button up, the "NO" and "C" button had continuity. Voltage check on the mating plug showed 2.3 volts with ignition on.

Also tried the grounding at the EEC tester plug. Grounding of the lower right to the chassis with ignition off or on did not make the fuel pump run.

Thanks again for your help.
