Ok, I had the car on the give me some heat while cleaing the interior and all of a sudden the idle jumps between 300-2000RPMS, the CE light goes on, then the battery light goes on and the car dies. I try to start it up immediatly afterward and it starts right up. I let it sit for about 10 more minutes and no problems. Went inside and came back about 20-30 minutes later and tried it again and nothing happened.
Any ideas on what it could be?

Gov. Jesse Ventura-"Baseball wants us to build a park at public expense. Then they'll come back in five or eight years and say, This isn't good enough either. If we build a library with public funds, we don't charge people to get in. If the public builds a stadium, the owner charges the public to get into their own stadium.
The Metrodome is younger than my 22 year old son. My high school, Minneapolis Roosevelt, is 80 years old. We are still using it. I'll build you a new stadium after we replace my high school.
The owners are not losing the money they claim. If they were, they wouldn't be paying the salaries they're paying. It's asinine. These people did not get the wealth they have by being stupid.
Every person in Minnesota who's my age or younger has had a team to root for his entire life. And that's going to end because 30 owners and one commissioner don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else?

Do you have an aftermarket ECU? Mine rattled a little loose once (don't ask me how), and made the car do a ton of weird crap... like a 2k RPM idle with all the lights flashing on and off and what not. So if you have an aftermarket ECU, that'd be the first thing to check.

Check your codes. If the CE light came on something is stored. It might have been a fluke that was corrected by itself, but better to know than to get on the road and.....(I won't even say it)

Brad, keep us posted as to what's wrong. I bet you're pretty bummed (******), but hang in there. You can always dream about that Borla exhaust, and flying down the road with the secondaries wide open.....

Here is where you can read about checking the codes with only a 6" piece of wire with 1/4" spade lugs and 5 minutes of your time.
http://216.92.187.145/SHO3eeccodes.html http://216.92.187.145/references/eecarticle.TXT http://216.92.187.145/SHO3eeccodes2.html

Learn to do it. It is a very valuable test you can run yourself. Shops charge at least $75 just to retrieve the codes. It is ludicrously simple. You don't need to buy a code reader. Just assemble the 6" wire with a 1/4" spade lug on each end. Insert it where shown in the links above, turn the ignition key to ON and count the CE light blinks.

Waddsn1060. I feel your pain. My Sho does the same thing. The idle will jump. It'll die going down the highway and all kinds of crap. I've got an aftermarket ECM. I think that's it and probably your problem too.

YO!!! Sorry for the delay in response. I am currently enjoying the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and lots and lots of hiking (13 miles Saturday, 14 miles Sunday and 18 today) Regarding the SHO, I talked to the dealer Friday, they said they could find no problems at all with the car and were trying to duplicate it. I am going to talk to them again tommorow. I am returning from Tennessee on Saturday so I will have a MUCH better update then. Happy New Years to all!!

This is a fozzy of a bear of a mess. The service manager said a technician drove it for almost an hour on Friday and nothing was wrong at all so they are going to take it for a drive again today to see if it acts up. Either way they are going to pull the codes to see if anything was stored at all. Also (here is where I become ******) I have a leaky radiator and that needs to be replaced (I figured so much, just didnt want to admit it) So Im out some big time cash, GOD DAMNIT!!!!!!!!
