I just got my GM strut tower brace in the mail and I was wondering what the correct way to install it was. Has anyone here installed this brace before?

yes, the proper way to install it is by throwing the bar in the trash. wink I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question, I just couldn't resist.

Your an ass Erik lol .... Never had to install a brace, but if you do end up taking off the nuts on the strut tower make sure you mark that area in case of strut shifting, take off the 3 bolts, and bolt em on!

I got it on mine. I wish I knew you wanted one. I ordered 2 a while back, I was going to install on the rear, but that would take some modifying. So its just sitting. Could've saved you $8
If I'm not mistaken, the STB goes over the 2 inside studs. Just loosen the 2 bolts, insert the brace, and TIGHTEN.
The only "modifying" you need to do is remove both hood struts. Looking back, I honestly don't think it was worth losing the luxury of the hood struts. Of course, THIS is the only suspension mod I have... that may be why. thumb

I drilled new holes in the center of mounting tab ends of the GM bar when I installed one on my 95 SE. They do work, but not as nice as a beefier bar.

I'm in the process of drilling holes into a set of plates to mount a spare GM bar in the rear. To be completely honest, no matter what STB you get for the front, putting one in the rear makes 10 times the difference. Course having a front STB, a rear STB, and subframe connectors does a really nice job of boxing in the suspension. I had my front bar out the other day while finishing up my 60k, I took the car for a spin, and realized that without the front bar finishing off the "box" It just felt wierd.

Hello, Question... Is this "GM Strut Tower brace" just a hollow piece of aluminum (or some metal) with two holes at each end? Just curious because i bought one off ebay for kicks, (advertised for the taurus) and realize it needs a bid of modification! LOL! The ends don't even match up w/our top strut bolts!

Happy SHOing!
