Correct. The stroke is longer in the 3.7.

No, The stroke is the same for the 3.5 and 3.7L at 86.7mm. Ford got to 3.7L with a larger bore. 92.5mm for the 3.5L and 95.5mm for the 3.7L. The cylinders were burning up "supposedly" in EcoBoost form due to the thinner wall . It could not hold up to Ford's testing requirements. The rods didnt pose such a problem AFAIK.
