We have several West Coast Rust free subframes at SHO Source. Send an email to: Mike AT shosource dot com

Send him an email and we can get you set up with a subframe.

You can upgrade to a Gen3 subframe but it will take welding.

I searched but could only find swapping the gen 3 subframe into an ATX, link to the MTX thread?

:thankyou:

When you use the next gen subframe, I understand your turning radius gets smaller. Do you use all the components from the updated subframe (like a 2002), like the struts and the steering rack and all the associated hardware.
Am I right on this?

you need the spindles from the Gen3, the lower control arms from the Gen3, and the rack mounting bolts and sway bar attaching brackets from the Gen3. Gen3 subframe bushings are also a good idea. I think you use the Gen1/2 struts, but I'm not clear on that part.

on the atx, you only need to drill a new mounting hold for the front engine mount 2" to the left of the existing one on the Gen3 subframe, and shim up the mounting point 5/8".

on the mtx, you have to do all of that plus remove the transmission mounting bracket and install one from a Gen1/2 mtx subframe in the correct location, and put a notch in the subframe where the end of the trans would otherwise interfere.

They put washers/spacers in the SHO steering rack to give it a lower turn radius. The thinking was that the SHO has bigger wheels/tires than a regular Taurus and they will rub if allowed to turn all the way with a non-limited rack.
