Well, It finally happened. The crankshaft woodruff key channel broke off with timing gear and all. So instead of changing the crankshaft I thought I'd just change the whole engine. If anyone has one or knows someone that is selling a 3.0 engine, I need to buy one. Hopefully its one thats in pretty decent shape. Thanks all! frown

Ack! I am sorry to hear about this. I am still at the coast and will give you a shout tomorrow. I believe Shawn of IPT, has a lower compression built 3.0 for sale. I was thinking of getting it and putting a turbo on my 94. However, I am in no rush. I will ask him about it.

This guy Terrell up here in San Antonio told me he's got alot of parts, including engines. I'm pretty sure he said he had GenI and II motors as well, but I can't be sure.

Thanks guys, I've checked e-bay and have some bids here in the shoforum but nobody seems to e-mail me back. I've only got one e-mail so far but they want way too much money.I'll try kaoticsho and I'll get a hold of Terrell.

Actually Jeremy, the compression had nothing to do with it. The crankshaft timing gear broke off a chunk of the crankshaft. The car was still running, but it was way out of time. So instead of changing the crankshaft itself, I figured I'ed just change the whole engine. :)

Just out of curiosity, Tony, how many miles were on your 3.0?

Also, have you considered getting a 3.2 instead of the ole 3.0? thumbs_u

I had 152,000 miles on it. I did a compression test about 2 weeks ago, it was great and it didn't smoke. I tell you these engines can take a beating and keep producing power. I thought about the 3.2 conversion, but I would have to drill and tap new holes for the accessories and get a new computer plus get a new chip for it. But if a 3.2 comes along before the 3.0 I just might do it.

Tony, I might be interested in selling the engine out of my 92 that is wrecked. I will check with my boyfriend and a guy that is interested in the car and let you know.

Tony,

Get a new crank pulley, key and some JB Weld, it will be good as new. I guarantee it. Did it to mine. It works.

Hey Mexican, Its funny you said that. That is exactly what I was going to do. Although I didn't know if it was going to work I was going to try it anyways. Then while further inspecting the crank the crankshaft sprocket wore down the crankshaft and the sprocket just wobbles in there and I knew that it would be just too much jb weld.

You tried a NEW crank sprocket and key and was still too loose? You need to tighten the crank bolt, then see if the sprocket moves.

No, I didn't try it with a new sprocket. But the reason I think it wouldn't work is because there is a lip on the crankshaft where it wore it down about 30 thousands of and inch into the shaft.

Tony, you also use same computer, heads, cams, oil pump, etc..just swap the block. There may be a spot you grind off if I'm not mistaken. Mark N. remarked how much beefier the 3.2 internals were compared to 3.0.

Is this the same terrell that pulled his ad from the classifieds over at shoclub.com? That guy pulled it because he got mad at how cheap we SHO owners are. :p

Tony I got your email a couple days ago and I responded to it. I am picking up my parts car tomorrow. The body is shot, but the drivetrain is mint. The motor has 80k on it with a fresh 60k. Let me know if you are interested.
