new update on first post`

Check the first post of this thread for an update on restaurants.

We need everyone to get their reservations in early if you are considering doing the RACE ON driving experience. This event requires a big deposit early, so we need to know who will want to do it ASAP.

Thanks
Don

update on deadlines

We are about 2 months away from the 15th annual convention.

Registrations are coming in, but I need to remind everyone that we will have to release any left over hotel rooms about 30 days out. If you THINK you might go, then get a hotel room now. We negotiated a decent price (feel free to try on-line services, if you can get a better price, then more power to you) and the host hotel is the best place to stay to be in on all the action. It is a nice hotel also, with convenient parking and services.

Also, the RACE ON driving experience is totally separate from the other driving events at Memphis motorsports park, but it is in danger of being cancelled. We have to make a big deposit way out to secure this event since they are not normally operating on weekdays. We have just a few days left to commit to that event or get our deposit back. Right now we are less than 1/2 way to break even. That is why we mentioned on all the forms we needed to know in advance if you wanted to do this.

RAce On is where you can ride in, or drive a real (or mostly real, slight mods for safety, comfort etc) NASCAR style car. We negotiated a very good discount, and the 3/4 mile track will let you drive over 100mph average if good enough, or when riding, I am sure you will go faster than that! So if interested, try to get your registration in THIS WEEK.

A note that although Race On is the same time as the road course driving event, you CAN do both. We will allow those doing both to make up any sessions on the road course they miss either before or after you drive the very short distance to the oval in the same MMP complex.

There are links to MMP and the RACE ON experience on the club web site:

http://www.shoclub.com then click on the SHO CONVENTION button on the left, and then on the 15th convention section.

Great Food, Lots of track time, great drives in three states, Graceland, did I mention great food? the annual Charity auction and meeting a hundred or more SHO fanatics like yourself.

If you have never been to a SHO Convention, you need to make one, and Memphis is pretty centrally located. Don't wait for next year or the year after, go for the gold this year!

Thanks, see you in Tennessee.

Marcel...right?

Yep, Got your forms right here, paid in full. If we do cancel RAce On (and I hope we don't have too) you will get a refund for that part.

Thanks for your support!

Still can add or register for RACE ON

We got the deadline to get our deposit back from RACE ON moved to the end of June.

We are close to being able to do this event. If you want to do it and are holding off on getting your registration in for money purposes, go ahead and get us your forms. You can post-date your check or ask us not to charge a credit card till July 1st if necessary, we will honor those requests.

The convention is really going to be a fun event, so get those forms in and make your hotel reservations!

For anyone interested, the golf tee times during the Convention are set:

Fox Meadows
3064 Clarke Rd
Memphis, TN 38115
(901)362-0232

Monday 7/17: 8:30 AM

Tuesday 7/18: 8:00 AM

It’s a municipal course:
http://www.thegolfcourses.net/golfcourses/TN/7935.htm

Only dress code is no tank tops or cutoffs (!!)

They are wide open for tee times at this point, so if we had more folks joining in, it shouldn’t be a problem to add.

Here’s the note I got from Fred Miller, who lives in Memphis:
“Fox Meadows is $28 weekdays including cart and is a country club the city took over in the seventys. They say it is in pretty good shape. I think this would be a good one.”

Info will also be posted near the Convention registration desk.

Contact me if interested.

Midwest Caravan Info:

The basics are listed on the SHO Club site, but here's additional info for the plan prior to meeting up on I-57 in Illinois. This would be for any other interested MI-OH-IN folks.

We are picking up IL folks at Noon CDT at the Rest Area at MM114 on I-57, but the earlier stops are as follows:

I'm leaving Lake Orion on Sunday at 5 AM, and picking up John Semchena on I-94 at the Rest Area at MM150 (east of Jackson near the Grass Lake exit) at 6:15 AM. We are then headed to I-69 south, where we will do a stop at the Rest Area (IN Welcome Center) at MM144 at 7:45 AM (south of the Toll Road), then a stop at the Rest Area at MM93 at 8:30 AM to pick up Willie Orpurt coming over from Ohio.

All times are approximate, depending on the usual stuff. My cell phone is in the SHO Club info, but it is 248.891.4760. We will also be on FRS Channel 6.
