Get a catless y pipe and never have to worry about clogging cats. If you have emissions, keep it around and install it for the test.
A twEECer and proper tuning will help you get a better optimal air/fuel ratio and not run VERY rich as your LPM.

ya i was just wondering assuming that my car was running perfect, how much hp and tq would my car be putting out roughly with a 9psi supercharger, cold air intake and just the regular stuff i need to run the supercharger?

When I was running 9psi, I made 390 to the wheels. Of course I had (have) a 3.2, low comp with head work.

I have just completed a 9 lb SHO Shop blower installation on a stock engine with SHO Shop Y pipe and dynomax cat back system.

It dynoed at 280 hp at the wheels. I still have an issue to resolve because it only made power to 5,800 rpm and then fell off sharply. I'm looking at the wires, plugs & fuel pressure regulator as the most likely causes. I figure there's at least another 20 hp in there, but I don't think I'll see much more than 300 at the wheels .... which is a nice setup for a street driven car. Manageable, but fast.

Is your s/c belt TIGHT?
My ex 91 with a low compression 3.0 dynod at 322 fwhp at 9 psi. I only ran it to 6900 rpms iirc.

My stock $300 motor put 325 on the ground.

That's right, a $300 motor. I bought an '89 SHO out of some guys back yard, sucked the motor out of it, shoved it into my car and strapped the blower to it. It put 325hp on the ground at about 10.5:1 AFR.

I made 5 passes back to back to back with no cool down time. Lowest posting was 320hp with the temp needle pointing straight up.

That was with a max of 8.9psi, 42lb injectors, 80mm Lightning MAF, my SCT tuning and full exhaust.

Go figure.

My last two motors averaged $125 a piece... I plan on putting down 400+ whp with them if I ever blow my original motor.

whats the differene between a blower and a supercharger?

some superchargers have an internal compression ratio, that is the air charge is compressed while still in the devise. for example a whipple supercharger has a contiuously decreasing volume of air trapped in the rotors. so when the air pocket reaches the exit port of the unit, it's already compressed. examples of these are scroll type (centrifucal, like yours) and whipple type.

conversly,a blower doen't have a internal compresstion ratio. it simply moves the air charge and 'piles' is onto the air inside the intake manifold. examples of these are roots type blowers like the eaton.

the diffrence in eff. can be up to 30% in favor of no-roots typle blowers, but not in all cases. some blowers have peak eff. better than a scroll type sometimes.

Semantics. A blower can be understood to mean either a belt-driven supercharger (like yours) or an exhaust gas driven supercharger (more commonly referred to as a turbocharger).

None...they're one in the same, unless you got some ricer talkin about a turbo. Though in a sense, they're both blowers, since they both blow air into the intake tract....however, 99% of the time, when someone says "blower", it's a supercharger.

just looking back at this thread ..... the reason my engine isn't making as much power as it could/should is the air fuel ratio

it goes very rich after 6,000 and basically the power just falls away

when i got the chip from the SHO Shop (may it rest in peace) i asked for a chip that would tend to be rich rather than lean - for engine longevity

that's what i got .... and i have been driving the car for 2 and 1/2 years with that setup .... have had absolutely no problems with reliabilty or otherwise

its a pretty strong car, but a reliable daily driver ..... i know the thing would make another 30-40 horsepower with a better tune but i really don't need it ..... the front tires still break loose in second when it hits the power (with a quaife)

all in all, i would have to say i am very satisfied with the setup ...... i know lots of people moan and groan about the SHO Shop, but i got good stuff from them and have had a lot of fun with this car

merry christmas everybody
