hey all,
been a while since i've been here. first off, yes i did a search. seems my problem has happened before, but there's never any resolution to the threads.
basically, you nail the throttle, whether in neutral or under load, the car will "choke" on itself. and backfire at times. feather the clutch to get it out of the problem spot, it's fine.
figured it was the bosch platinums or the wires (which have about 38k on them).
well, tyler was kind enough to help me out. first, changed the plugs. put my old wires back on (about 55k on them - they were fine when we took them off). reason being i had stock wires from a supercharged sho. they had 8k when i put them on, but they had some sort of battery acid on them as he was t-boned in that car.
well, good thing i brought my original plug wires. the acid did a number on the wires and one of the tips broke off in the coil pack after the plastic just disintegrated. which was fine as tyler has like 3 of everything ;-)
we did noticed the car IS running lean (remember baysho dyno day?). the tips were pretty dang light. i will buy a used lpm, if possible. and have the maf curve adjusted. but first things first...
so, bottom line. when the day was done, we had replaced the coil pack, the DIS, the plugs, the wires, the tps from his car, my stock maf AND THE ******* STILL STUTTERS!
what's left? i get no engine codes, but that wouldn't be the first time the computer has been "lazy" with our cars. we were thinking cam position sensor (didn't try another one) or worst case, the timing belt may have slipped? perhaps a bad tensioner?
nick did replace the IMRC a while back (the old one was fine. think the new one is dead now? clogged cat?
i'll leave you with this. once you get the car past 2500-3000 rpms, it still goes like a bat out of you know where.
HELP!
thanks,
Robby
