I am in the process of a full 60k and I have the motor and tranny both out of the car and in the process of replacing my busted tranny with one that has 86k on it. I was wondering if there was any rebuild or strengthening kits I can buy and put into the tranny. I have been thinking about the quaife but dont know if i want to spend the money. Is there any other options I can take to strengthen and make the tranny more reliable. This is my daily driver and I have no problem investing money and time into the car. Once I put it back together I dont want to have to tear into it again for a long time. ANY INFO, INSIGHT OR HELP will be greatly appreciated. THANKS

The Quaife is AWESOME! No more SHO boom in the tranny department, and better traction! The only downfall is the price. If you have ever scrounged for a used MTX4, you know how hard and expensive they are getting. I believe it is worth EVERY PENNY!!!

Your second potion is to have the stock diff "reinforced". There are a few members on here that do that. A viable option. Dosen't help with traction, but keeps your diff from throwing a pin.

Good luck woth your choice.

P.S. Get the Quaife, you won't be sorry!

I would love to invest the money in the quaife but its just too far out of my budget right now. Im not too concerned with traction issues as I dont plan on beating on it. It is my daily driver and the whole idea is to bring everything back to factory spec, from the engine to the suspension to the transmission. Everything else is on its way to where I want only thing i am worried about is having to tear back into everything because of the dam tranny again. WHo does the reinforcing for the stock diffs? Is it something I can do myself. I have means and know how just need to know procedure. THanks

If you have a reasonably stock motor (i.e., no supercharger), don't beat on it and don't do burnouts then a stock tranny is plenty strong. The vast majority of failures are from abuse or poor maintenance or some combination thereof.

well that sounds like something I would deff get my hands on. I would feel a little more comfortable if someone else on the board has actually used it. Do you know of anyone or does anyone know of anyone know has used this product. For $300 thats not bad. To get better traction and to preserve the life of the tranny. ANY INFO IS GREAT!!!???

Yes, do a search here on Phatom Grip, or tranny destruction, or something like that, and then promise to never mention its name again... :shakehead

Those things are very, very bad news.

Thanks folks about the heads up on "The Grip". So if it is such an engineering disaster why no class action?

If I remember right, when you read there warranty it only covers the piece of **** errrrr the unit they make, not the rest of the transmission and there is some sort of lawyer speak in the warranty stating so. They are well informed that there unit destroys the transmissions, they thumb there nose and still sell it to unsuspecting persons looking to do it on the "cheap". You get what you pay for.

thanks for the look out, i will deff not being going with the Phantom. I am how ever going to send out my Diff to get reinforced. I figure that should solve my concerns. If I do any modding it is going to be bolt ons and I dont think I will create enough power to destroy the diff. Thanks for everyones insight.
