Well, my MTX is on it's last legs and needs a rebuild; I want to install a quaife at this time as well, but after doing a search it seems from several posts that all the parts are no longer available for the MTX. If anyone out there knows of a source, please advise.
I just talked with Bob McCune at Ford Dearborn HQ; he's Manager of the Research and Engineering group and is a good customer of mine; he let me sit in the GT (not too comfy if you're 6'6" though) when the first models were being developed out there.. Bob is looking into the situation as I mentioned that many other owners of MTX SHO's really need these parts, or a suitable replacement transaxle that can handle more power. Timken is also a good customer of mine, and perhaps the bearings can be cross referenced...we'll see what transpires..Keep you guys updated after I hear back....

It's more the availability of the MTX parts that's an issue, i.e. 1/2 synchro. The other synchro's are out there but soon to be not available. And I don't think the blocking rings are an issue right now. Some of the bearings are obsolete, but due to the fact that they rarely fail unless something else in the tranny causes their early demise, it's less of an issue than synchro's. As far as a beefier tranny, it's really not needed for most bolt-on cars (minus the differential). So I guess what I'm saying is, get a Quaife and all should be safe. (hey I rhymed). And I SERIOUSLY doubt Ford will reproduce any MTX parts or design a replacement tranny for a 9-15 yr old car design.

We've managed to find suitable replacement bearings for all the obsolete-from-Ford bearings in the MTX - even the two obsolete Koyo E9DZ-A/B ones with no cross reference - they turned out to be a standard bearing with a non-standard bore. We are working on an adaptor that will allow you to use the standard bearing for the non-crossable ones. We also sell the blocking rings and seals, as well as the 3/4 and 5th synchro. Both of the latter are obsolete, but we have a limited quantity available. The 1/2 is gone - if you see one cheap, pick it up.

Check our website for more info (in my sig)

Thanks guys; I don't know what my MTX will need until it's out of the car. 3rd is whining badly and synchro's seem to be going out; I'll keep an eye out for the 1/2 synchos...
