The transmissions will interchange.
The shifters will interchange.
Your exhaust system already has the jog in it to use the rod shifter (if it is a 92).
Change fluid first see if that helps . The rod shifter is a better design . But not really worth it if the cable unit is okay . My cable shifter felt firmer and tighter to the point I was a little disappointed in the change .
last fluid change was a few years ago with dextron 3, when we did 5th gear syncro....(there were only like 3 left in the USA!) also the blocking rings and the shaft the syncro sits on......im hoping its a fluid or linkage issue....
so the fluid was full....but also grey and smelly.... some chunks of metal as well....not a good sign. also the linkage is very sloppy. going to fix the linkage and go from there. i thought i seen on here someone selling bushing kits...anyone know who or where these are?
SHOsource.com offers the rod shifter(and cable shifter) bushing repair kit. her is a link to the parts page.
I replaced my MTX's fluid with Royal Purple Syn. ATX fluid and have been very impressed. It has really improved the notchy syncro feel I had experienced before the change. I would highly recommend the Royal Purple product.
