When you remove the "mouse trap" from the "saxaphone", what exactly does this do? There is a page at V8sho.com that explains how to do this (tried to link it here but for some reason could not)anyway, the info I found didn't really explain why you would do this. Is the "mouse trap" thing something like an air restrictor, and by removing it you allow more air into the system thus creating more useful horsepower? If so, then about how much extra power is to be gained by removing this thing?
Anyone got any ideas? shrug

Nothing you can really feel as far as horsepower. It does restrict airflow though. Removing it makes it sound slightly louder, thats about it!

Removing the entire sax and then providing large amounts of free flowing outside air has very positive effects other than just sound. On V8SHO.com you might want to look up 'porterization' as an easy first step on this. There are various ways to do similar things. Mine just uses a single fot long chunk of 3 or 4 inch diameter radiator hose from a truck shop (I forst wich it was to fit over the airbox intake), and skips the elbows and such. Try it though. I suspect you will like the results.

When you remove the "mouse trap" it doent give you any real increase in horsepower. All it does is free up the air...to an extent like Steve said. Now I have taken out the whole air assembly unit from inside the fender. However once again no real increase in horsepower BUT, and I say BUT, I also have the open cone K&N Air Filter and with the whole assembly off with the open cone filter the sound of the secondaries is BEAUTIFUL!!!! The one bad part about he open cone filter is it does suck up ALOT of hot air coming from the motor when you are sitting at an idle. Some have even had their SES (service engine soon) light come on due to the temp sensor that is just hanging there.....like mine. That can easily be fixed.

You can also put the air filter in the fender with the "porterization" BUT be careful with that procedure for you can get alot of water pick up. It all depends on where and how you instal it in the fender.
