Moonroof button pushed through...Help!

I know that I have seen the way to replace the moonroof switch on here before...But I was wondering if one of you guys could pull up the website that shows you exactly how to do it...I have to fix the button before 100,000 miles so I can bring the car in to get the actual moonroof fixed before the 100k warranty wears off eek! ...Thanks a lot guys!

I think it's on the shotimes.com website. Just remove (gently) the lens covers for the light, remove the screws holding the cover to the roof, gently pry it off and get some epoxy or superglue or something and rig it back in there. Very common problem.

I, too, did this mod. It's a much better switch and I haven't had a problems since. BTW, if you break the "cage" (like I did), just use a whole lot of a strong epoxy on the switch and cage to hold it all together. Worked for me so far.

SHOmE85...mine broke 2 years ago. I did the basic superglue fix twice and both times it didn't last a week. I went to the plastic epoxy, really let it set for a few days and it's worked fine since - about a year. I'm sure the "mod" mentioned above is the better way to go but this worked as a simple solution for me. Good Luck!

....I did the basic superglue fix twice and both times it didn't last a week. I went to the plastic epoxy, really let it set for a few days and it's worked fine since - about a year....

Definately get a good strong epoxy. I used a 2 part, available at any hardware store. To open the light and switch housing, you need to push in the map light and sort of pry the buttons out with a flathead screwdriver. There are two screws under there. Take them out. Then pull the cover rearward and slightly down. Using the epoxy, reattach the switch base to the housing and reasemble. This literally takes 5-10 minutes to due, although I'd wait a day or so to let the epoxy cure fully before opening the moonroof.

The 2 part epoxy is how I did mine as well. 18 months and holding.

hmmm...after looking at that mod, I wonder if it would be possible to mod the switch with an express down switch out of the door...

I've wondered that myself. I think it's been done but I can't say for sure. I was also wondering about the Explorer unit with 2 switches- one for the tilt, one for slide. I think there is an express feature there too but can't be sure on that either.
