It would be Recaros, but it took all day Sunday to make the 4 brackets to mount just the driver side. I haven't even touched on the wiring yet.

And you would think seats that came out of a 911 would be light, but I'd bet these are within pounds (kilos?) of the factory seats. Since this is a 3 day weekend (thank you Ceasar Chavez) I'll attack the passenger seat, power wiring and heater controls after a quick CV axle swap.

At some point in my life I hope to attack the clock spring, y-pipe and brakes, but other stuff is just popping up.

The grass is definately greener on the other side.

Whatcha doin' with the take-offs? If the driver side has a good forward / back travel motor and switches I might be interested in taking it off your hands...

I'll trade you for a milk crate or two.

I was thinking about making a Grand Tourismo chair, but I'll never get around to it. Plus, having to power it would be a pain. I have no shortage of non-power seats if I ever decide to make a video game chair, so it's yours.

A caveat though, you have to take the passenger seat too. Don't care what you do with it, sell it, scrap it, trade it to a Dead Head for a grilled cheese sandwich, throw it at pedestrians on 59th Ave, whatever, I just need less stuff littering up my garage.

I was able to mount my Recaro SRDs using an adapter bracket that was commercially avialable from Wedge Engineering. Only complaint is that rear seat footroom is reduced, but thats more a function of the bolt on Recaro slider.

I wasn't super happy with all of my mounts. They work, but they were a lot of work to build. Since these are electric power Porsche 911 Recaros, I didn't even look around for brackets.

For the front two, I cut down some 2 inch square tube at an angle to match the floorboard, cut one side of the tube off to turn it into C channel and then capped it. Inside was about 1" tall, outside was 1.5 or 2. For the rear, the outside mount was just a 4 inch piece of 1X2 rectangle with holes drilled in the right place. The inside mount was two pieces of 1.5 inch angle welded together. That's the one I'm least happy with as that is the seatbelt mount side, so I'm not convinced of its strength. I may pick up some 1.5 inch square tube and redo it.

The Porsche sliders are half an inch wider than the SHO and substantially longer. Don't even think about this unless you own several ratchety wrenches and a fair amount of patience.

Any of the aftermarket Recaro sliders will mate up with the 911 Recaros, so you have your choice of flat or tabbed. On the Wedge Engineering adapters, ID threaded tubes run fore/aft and the tabbed sliders bolt to those.

I still have some genuine Porsche slider spacers kicking around in case you need to raise the seats up 3/4 inch or so.
