Ok guys, I'm at a loss? I got gas the other day, drove my car home about a mile..and as soon as I pulled into my alley it died. No warning, just died. First I thought it was my fuel pump because I use to be able to hear it when I turned the key on and after it died I cant hear it anymore. Before I checked for fuel, I checked for spark. I pulled a plug wire and set a screwdriver in and set it on the frame, there was no spark. Then I pulled a plug and left it in the wire...still no spark on the plug.

I tried to perform the KOEO test and I can't get the engine light to start blinking to get some sort of code. I performed the test EXACTLY how your suppose to via shopheonixproject (except getting the car to normal operating temperature because I cant get it to start!). I seriously dought the engine light is burnt out because I've had a O2 sensor code for a while and the light comes on everyday.

How can I figure out what is wrong? I really want to avoid throwing random parts at this because you all know how much that can cost! HELP!!

Have you checked the computer ground yet? Small ground wire coming off the negative terminal. It has a quick-disconnect along the line that can come loose, and the wire itself can come loose if you have badly corroded wires or aftermarket screw-type battery terminals.

No corrosion, everything is firmly clipped together and grounded good. unplugged and replugged terminals and still nothing.

Check the connections on the DIS and behind the intake by the firewall.
My first thought is the subframe moved and disconnected or slightly loosened a connector.

Not to act like you're a *****, but are you sure for the KOEO test you have the jumper wire in the right position? If you're sure you do, maybe your computer took a dump.

Connection to the DIS are ok.

Stangeater--I can be a ***** sometimes, but not this time. I triple checked that I was in the right pins according to shopheonixproject. I have used the KOEO test before and it worked like a champ. But, this time I cant get the light to blink even once. Don't worry, I take no offence... I figured I would get that question from someone. :)

WHAT ELSE!!!???

So, when you pulled into the alley was there a curb or ramp? Did the car hit a bump then die or was it a smooth entry and suddenly no power?

Just trying to figure out if it could be something that was jarred loose or if we should eliminate that as a cause.

So, no spark, fuel or computer test. Time to disconnect the big 60-pin connector and check power and ground to the computer. It's right by the connectors for diagnostics, and requires undoing a 10mm bolt.

The pins are laid out in three rows, 20 pins per row, with each row split in half at the bolt. Pin 37 is power, pin 40 is ground.

Looking into the wiring connector. Sorry it's a bit fuzzy.

This should tell you if the problem is power or ground to the computer. Let us know where it goes from there.

Check the fuel cut-off switch in the trunk? Also if the car is an ATX it might be the 10a mini fuse in the under-hood fuse box marked accy feed. That fuse sends power to the CCRM.

If you unplug the computer and turn the key to the run position does the fan come on? If it does not I would suspect the fuse for the CCRM or the CCRM itself.

Either your ECU isn't getting power, your data connector is borked, or your ECU is done.

Ok, So the 10A mini fuse was blown. I put in a new one and the car started and died right away (it reved to 1000 rpm and then died again...it was real quick). I checked the fuse again and the new one blew too. So, I must have a short somewhere, right? Where would be the most suspect place to find it??

Unplug the sensor on the coolant overflow bottle. This sensor is for the low coolant light.
Why that sensor is tied to that circuit I don't know but trust me unplug that sensor. Mine has been unplugged for 2 years and no problems. I would have suggested that fuse sooner but didn't know if the car was an ATX or not.

Well, I unplugged the sensor for the overflow tank and still no start. When I turn the key to the "on" position, everything comes on (even the fuel pump and the engine light) and as soon as I crank the engine..it starts and revs to 1000rpm then quickly dies. I check the mini fuse and it's blown again. I tried tracing the wires as far as I can and I dont see any damage. WTF!!!!
