I had 2 working keys and got a 3rd one cut/programmed. The standard (home) programming wasn't working so I had a key company connect to program it. While he was in, he saw a 4th key and asked if I still had it. I told him I had no idea what that was and asked him to delete it.

Fast forward a few months and I now know what the 4th key was....the code for the door. It used to work and no longer does. I've tried it multiple times with no luck. Everything I've found online says that code is permanent / no erasable, but it is.

Has anyone ever done this? Is there anything I can do at home to reprogram it? I'd rather not go to a Ford stealership. They always overcharge and break something while they have my vehicle.

The factory code is usually on a white sticker up behind the brake pedal.

I have the factory code and it worked fine until I had it deleted from memory. I'm trying to figure out how to reprogram it.

Perhaps in Forscan. That I do not know.

That's what I'm hoping. I've never actually used Forscan but I'm fairly tech savvy. If someone has done it before and has a quick tutorial, I'd happily try it.

The factory code should not be something you can erase. It IS possible to program in a user-selectable code, and that one IS erasable. Are you sure the code you had was the factory code versus one that someone had programmed in? Was the code printed on a little Ford business card, or was it hand-written down somewhere? Using a high end scan tool (and possibly Forscan) you can access the factory code, which would allow you to program in a user-selectable code as well.

Agreed, the factory code is permanent. It is not counted as a key fob. Use FORScan to read the code.

I'm 100% sure that it's the factory code. I used it for years and it no longer works after deleting it.

I know nothing about Forscan but if I knew I could reprogram it, I'd look into it.

If you have access to an IDS and/or possibly Forscan you should be able to access the car's specific stored door code and even test the Keyless Entry keypad inputs, through I believe the BCM module by looking at the PIDS which are the inputs and outputs to that each specific .

As others have said, the factory door code is considered permanent, so it shouldn't have been able to be erased.

Does the keypad even light up and or respond to being touched on each number?

If you think about it, the keycode is only for entry regarding the locks in general. The PATS system for theft deterrent works through the PCM, BCM and the RFA modules and prevents the vehicle from starting either through preventing the starter or the fuel pump from activating.

Yes, it still lights up and accepts inputs. It just never unlocks the doors. The fobs all work to unlock the car and push to start. I haven't set the alarm off, but I assume it still works. It wasn't until a few months after having it done that I needed to use the door code and realized it wasn't working.

I have a Livewire TS+ and a cheap ELM BT scanner that I use with Torque Pro to read / clear codes on other cars. From what I understand, I'd need a better reader to use Forscan?

There are programmable parameters that can changed on vehicles with capable scan tools. I don't have Forscan personally. If someone had the capability to change or completely erase the door code, that would mean that they could access into the hardware/software of the module on a different level than I'm presently able to, but I wouldn't think that happened here on your SHO.

As a dealer technician, I'm familiar with Forscan, as we have customer's who bring vehicle's in where the auto stop/start is disabled intentionally through Forscan. I use Ford IDS and FDRS on a daily basis, so I'm more knowledgeable with these platforms.

If you touch the door pad, it should wake up. Then touch both of the last two inputs simultaneously, as in 7/8 and 9/0, will it lock the doors, as it should?

Just curious if your keypad is registering another number such as 7/8 when you need a 5/6, if that makes sense?

You may be inputting the correct number, but it's seeing a different number. This would cause it to not work.

With the IDS, I can check each input to ensure that the number I'm inputting is matching at the module.

I have seen the keypads get hairline cracks in them which allows water entry and unusual operation.

You need a vLinker FS to connect FORScan. One of several recommended adapters. About $35 on Amazon.

Forscan cannot reprogram the touchpad. It may be able to tell if the number press is being input to the BCM. There should be PIDs for that.

Since you say it was several months after the locksmith job before you noticed, I'd guess that the keypad just quit working. It's not uncommon for the keypad to go bad.

Yes, it lights up. And holding 7/8-9/0 locks the door. While it seems to be registering each key independently, I can lock the door by only holding 7/8. No other single key works that way. Here's a video.

Thanks. I put one in my Amazon cart just in case. I've always wanted to experiment but never had a true need to.

Based on what's happening in the video, I have to believe you have a defective keypad. I would start there.
