It is a 95 ATX. I'll check to see if I can see what wires are running to that mini fuse. It is in the distribution box under the hood, labeled ASSY FEED.

there are 2 of those little fuses in the power distribution box - one is "ACCY FEED" and the other is "IGN COIL" if the ignition one is blowing, that suggests that the coil or the wires to the coil are shorted. if the accessory feed is blowing, that suggests that wires are shorting.

The ASSY FEED is blowing, so does that mean the wires to the coil are shorting or "any" wires are shorting. Just need to know a good place to look. I have looked in all the obvious spots but maybe I've missed something.

Check the plug under the master cylinder. This is for your cruse control.
There is a "re call" for this part, and it has set a sho or two on fire.

Cut the harness open that runs along the drivers side main body rail.. the harness will rot from the inside out.. Mainly check the yellow and pink IIRC wires inside this, amongst the others..

Ok, so I cut the looms off the wire and checked em...still couldnt find a short. I must of found something though because I put in another 10A mini fuse, disconnected the coolant sensor again and it started up and idled fine.

Now... When it rains it pours. I figure I'll take it for a drive and see what happens. WRONG, NOW it wont shift into gear! I tried with the brake, without the brake, I checked the switch on the brake pedal, all the fuses (i think!) and cant find anything wrong. ANY IDEAS!!!

according to my evtm, the accy feed goes to the ABS controller and to the antilock power relay. blowing that fuse should not make the car not run, imho.

the ign coil feeds power to the coolant sensor and to the ccrm. blowing that fuse will cause problems trying to get the engine to run.

I had the same shifting problem in my red 94 - the brake pedal shift interlock went on the fritz and it wouldn't allow you to shift out of park. my fix was to take off the console and pull off the shift interlock linkage, so that I didn't have to have my foot on the brake pedal to shift out of park. (it is a small bowden wire cable.)

{rant
(people lived w/ automatic trans cars for 40 years w/o that interlock, but when Audi drivers in the 80s started shifting w/ their foot on the gas rather than the brake, the feds [in their infinite wisdom] decreed that we all must have this interlock to lead happy, productive lives... I find that using my brain is more valuable in that regard...)

Its still not fixed.. Go through that harness good, you will find a swollen wire or a rub through or something.. But opening and tugging on it you only moved the affected wire to a new location and eventually it will end up back where is was..

Im glad you got it running though!

I know, Im going to keep tracing the wires and see what I can find. I'm just glad I can drive it to work again and leave the mustang in the garage!!

Trying to cut all that conduit from that harness is quite the pain with everything in the way. maybe this weekend I will tear it all down and hopefully see something.

FYI SHODWN--Im originally from spencer Mass! Used to live out at Cranberry Lake. My dad transferred with flexcon when they built the plant in Nebraska. My Grandpa manages Christie n Thompson Auto Parts in Spencer!

Ok fellas, new set of problems I need some help with. It has to stem from my fuse or short problem. I now have no sound coming out of my speakers (radio is on, but no sound), my cruise control no longer works, and after I drive it for about 20 minutes it starts missing reall bad and has no power (it did this yesterday and the night before, it hasn't done it yet today)...until I nail it then it comes out of it and the powers back. I checked all my fuses and everything looks good.

I did get a letter from ford about a cruise control recall the other day, so maybe I should just bring it in and let them fix the cruise and then see if the radio goes back to normal.?.?

it sounds to me like you may have a problem with connector corrosion. in the driver's kick panel are several large connectors (14 pin, 12 pin, 8 pin, etc) that include connections for the speakers as well as other important functions. you may have a problem there. the miss issue could be connector related as well, although that would most likely be under the hood.

the cruise has numerous opportunities to fail - you really need to follow the troubleshooting in the manual to solve that one.
