hey fellas

I have the prettty well everything out of the front of the car . I grabbed 3 wiring harnesses & anything that looked like it was going to be needed .

this being said , i am going after the computer under the passenger side dash . That blue box is the eecu , right ? I don't no much about what wire does what , I am just doing the tear out & could really use some advice on what is really nesseary to make this baby run .

I am going to look @ a ranger today to put the motor into . I don't need any acces. wiring ( i assume ) but I am sure that i will have to intergate the ranger ignition to the SHO'S wirring harness .

But what else ? OFFROADSHO could probly awnser all my questions , but any one else have any ideas ?

Just don't wanna do anymore demo than i have to . I am going @ 'er all day again . When i come in the house i can check post ...

thanks

the ecu is the silver box that's shoved up against the firewall behind the glovebox. drop yer glovebox and take a gander up in there.

I think that is just about it . I am going to chain 'er up & drag it out of the SHOp

i think that blue box could have something to do with the air bag system

thanks again

I'm assuming what you really want it to do is run it INSIDE something other than an SHO. What are you putting it in?

Get the computer and its associated wiring harness, which plugs into the engine compartment's wiring harness, the fuse panel harness, the CCRM and the fans, the starter, the battery cables with the fusible links.

Some of the above might not be needed, depending on what you're planning on doing.

I really want the truck to be manual , there must have been other models that ford but those trans into ( or did the areostar have the manual option ?)

Any tranny that bolted to the 3.0 Vulcan will bolt to the SHO block, but why use an auto tranny when you can use a manual. Use the Aerostar manual tranny bell housing from a 87 or 88 Aerostar. Make or buy the bell housing-to-T-5 tranny adapter.

I'd lower the Ranger if I were going to put such a heavy V-6 like the SHO in it. The single cab version in 2 wheel drive would be the lightest.
