I am planning on buying an engine and having the builder that is going bpd's engine, build mine too. He did tell me it's not good to build for say 1100 hp and then not make it there. I want to get started, but if it is bad to build for 1100 and not be able to get there. I don't want to put atp turbos on if they aren't going to be adequate to get to the horsepower needed to support the engine build. I am just curious if anyone has any clue what mods are going to be needed to support the build so I can get a budget together. Thanks in advance.

I'm not following. What do you mean "it's not good to build for say 1100 hp and then not make it there"?

The engine doesn't care how much power it makes as long as fueling it correct it doesn't care. You don't want to build the engine for your current horsepower because when you want to upgrade you'll be building it again.

In the Mustang world, we tell people to build for 50% more horsepower than you want to currently achieve, so if you want to make 800hp build the engine to support 1200hp. Gives you room to grow without breaking the bank.

What is he planning to do to this engine that makes him thing it will survive at 1100hp but not at 600hp?

ATPs have supported well over 600 hp and even then the stock trans and PTU have been fine. I'm not sure there is a set of production turbos out there that will support the airflow needed for 4-digit horsepower. You'd likely need to go with an aftermarket single or remote twin setup at that point.

Here to help, just need to better understand the problem statement and the intended solution.

At a minimum: Dual fuel + custom ecu, turbos, intercooler, hpfp, lpfp, and injectors. Gaskets n studs. Airflow might be challenging even with the new EPP intake, Cooling upgrade likely needed as well, so a radiator uograde should be looked at as well. While you can install water misting, ac driven cooling etc, improving the device at the core is the best place to start.
