Hey all!

Well, Indiana got their first bit of snow and I drug my feet too long over getting a set of wheels/tires for winter. the summer tires nor the driver stood a chance and my fist turn sent me into a curb. Front alignment is toed out and the next day my power steering is disabled. I am assuming this means I need a new rack (unless somebody knows if these have a sort of “limp mode”), but i am wondering if i can take the tighter steering rack from a PP and essentially ‘bolt on’ to my non PP. If anyone has any advice, experience, or tips/tricks please let me know.

I’m not sure if the modules are all compatible within the steering column/abs/TC system to play nice with a PP rack. It’s not just tighter gearing it’s programmed with different ratios so you would have to consult a dealer or someone who knows IDS to know if it would communicate the different signals (torque sensor, angle sensor, assist curve difference etc.) without throwing a “invalid data” code. I battled a steering rack for 3 months and learned a lot more than I would have liked to about these dumb electric systems.
