No, firmware is not the same as as-built data.

From memory, using the FORScan beta version, go to PSCM firmware update, updates, download the presented firmware. If all blocks turn green the firmware is downloaded to your laptop and ready to use.

Always have a battery charger on the vehicle and a power supply connected to the laptop while updating firmware. If the vehicle voltage drops below 12 volts, the update will fail and possibly brick the module.

Remember, you are using beta software and you assume all risks associated with that.

Is it safe to drive the car prior to updating firmware, etc? At minimum I would have to drive to somewhere with wifi to do some of the steps but I am also not sure I want to take on the risk of updating the firmware. The as-built data part I am okay with, but beyond that the risk makes me a bit nervous. And if I didn't do it myself I would need to be able to drive back home which is roughly 60 miles as this was the closest DIY shop (having it towed there).

You are in a pinch, finance it out. The problem only gets worse as you continue driving it. I agree after reading the instructions TX pointed us to, it can be iffy if Forscan can't gain access to the file from Ford to update the firmware, u can run even similar risks as continuing to drive it as it's going bad.

Might need to rethink lowest cost vendor and make sure they update the firmware.

I am only trying to figure out if I would be able to drive home without the firmware update really. The dealer said they would need the car for a few days so I can't leave it in another city to do that update.

tether to your phone through USB port on your laptop - check with your mobile provider if tethering is enabled on our account. If not, pay for a month of tethering.

Good to know, Hopefully the pricing isn't too far off. Waiting on quotes from 3 shops and the dealer just in case.

Does anyone remember if the racks come with inner and/or outer tie rods ends? Been trying to find that out and had no luck so far. Would be nice if it came with at least the inner tie rods and boots.
I had a dealer quote me$3800 in parts and $1200 labor
